"We have a tendency to think the sky is falling — or that it'll never be this good again," she said. "But April showed that the industry's resilience and innovation are only accelerating."
April's F&I Milestone
April didn't just follow a strong Q1. It set milestones as dealers pushed F&I performance to new heights, with average profit per vehicle retailed (PVR) reaching $1,900 — the highest since September 2022 — on 1.55 products per deal. That's up from 1.52 in January.

"It's not just about getting ahead of tariffs," Allen noted. "We're seeing a broader, more positive trend: better individual product performance and stronger bundling strategies that drive dealership profitability."
Record Q1 Set the Pace
Total F&I income per rooftop soared to $244,980 in March, then held strong at $228,000 in April.
Deal counts decreased to 120 per rooftop in April, down from 131 in March, but still remained well above late-2024 averages.
A 72% increase in front-end gross since December 2024 signals the end of the "race-to-the-bottom pricing" era.
Bundling strategies gained traction, boosting individual product performance despite fluctuating transaction volumes.
